Set up email on a Gandi domain
Gandi lets any account mint a personal access token, and with one paste of it Faivelo writes every email record for you. The by-hand path is below, along with the default records Gandi plants that need to go first.
One paste, then it does itself
- 1.
Add your domain in Faivelo
- 2.
Paste your Gandi personal access token
- 3.
Records write and verify themselves
Create a personal access token under Account, Authentication options, scoped to your domain with permission to manage technical configurations, and paste it into Faivelo once. Every record below is then written and verified for you.
Find the DNS editor
- 1Prefer to do it by hand? Sign in at admin.gandi.net and open Domain.
- 2Click your domain, then the DNS Records tab.
- 3Add each entry your Faivelo dashboard lists.
Use @ for the root and bare prefixes like _dmarc; Gandi's name field appends the domain.
What your screen should look like
DNS RECORDS
| Type | Name | TTL | Values |
|---|---|---|---|
| MX | @ | 10800 | 10 spool.mail.gandi.net. |
| MX | @ | 10800 | 10 mx.faivelo.com |
| TXT | _dmarc | 10800 | v=DMARC1; ... |
The spool.mail.gandi.net rows are Gandi's bundled mail service. Delete them, or they race your real MX for incoming mail.
What gets set up, in plain words
Receiving
One record tells the internet to deliver your mail to Faivelo.
MX
Sending and trust
These prove your mail is really yours, so it lands in inboxes instead of spam folders.
TXT ×4CNAME ×3MX
Device auto-setup optional
Optional but nice: phones and mail apps find their settings by themselves instead of asking for servers and ports.
CNAME ×2SRV ×3
You type less than you think
Add your domain to Faivelo, free, and your dashboard generates this exact set for your domain. Every value has a one-click copy next to it, and each record checks itself off the moment it goes live, so you always know what is done and what is left.
And you give nothing up: this is the same full SPF, DKIM and DMARC setup the big per-seat providers configure. The flat price changes what you pay, not what lands in inboxes.
Get your records, freeThings Gandi does differently
Gandi ships its own MX records
Every Gandi domain starts with MX records pointing at Gandi's bundled mail. Remove them before adding new MX records; two competing MX sets means some mail lands in the wrong place.
Token permissions matter
A personal access token needs the permission to manage domain technical configurations. A token without it authenticates fine and then fails on every write.
Check that it worked
Records usually go live within minutes, though caches can hold old answers for up to a day. Faivelo re-checks your domain automatically and emails you the moment everything verifies. Want an instant answer? Run a free email checkup on your domain and see exactly which records are live.
