Registrar guide
Set up email on a Cloudflare domain
If your DNS is on Cloudflare, you have the easiest version of this job: click one button, approve, and every email record appears in your zone by itself. This guide also covers the manual path, including the two Cloudflare settings that quietly break email when people do it by hand.
The whole setup is one click
- 1.
Add your domain in Faivelo
- 2.
Click Connect Cloudflare and approve
- 3.
Records appear and verify by themselves
This is the whole setup. The connection is scoped to DNS only, and you can revoke it in your Cloudflare dashboard any time.
The manual path, if you prefer it
- 1Prefer to do it by hand? Sign in at dash.cloudflare.com and click your domain.
- 2Open DNS in the left sidebar, then Records.
- 3Use Add record for each entry your Faivelo dashboard lists.
- 4Set the proxy status to "DNS only" on every record you add for email.
Cloudflare accepts @ for the root and auto-completes your domain in the Name field. Type just the prefix, like _dmarc, and let it complete the rest.
What your screen should look like
DNS RECORDS
| Type | Name | Content | Proxy status | TTL |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MX | @ | mx.faivelo.com | DNS only | Auto |
| CNAME | autoconfig | mx.faivelo.com | DNS only | Auto |
| TXT | @ | v=spf1 ... | DNS only | Auto |
Cloudflare turns the orange proxy cloud on by default for CNAME records. Mail records must say "DNS only" (grey cloud), or mail apps cannot reach your mailbox even though everything looks correct.
What gets set up, in plain words
Receiving
One record tells the internet to deliver your mail to Faivelo.
MX
Sending and trust
These prove your mail is really yours, so it lands in inboxes instead of spam folders.
TXT ×4CNAME ×3MX
Device auto-setup optional
Optional but nice: phones and mail apps find their settings by themselves instead of asking for servers and ports.
CNAME ×2SRV ×3
You type less than you think
Add your domain to Faivelo, free, and your dashboard generates this exact set for your domain. Every value has a one-click copy next to it, and each record checks itself off the moment it goes live, so you always know what is done and what is left.
And you give nothing up: this is the same full SPF, DKIM and DMARC setup the big per-seat providers configure. The flat price changes what you pay, not what lands in inboxes.
Get your records, freeThings Cloudflare does differently
The orange cloud breaks mail silently
The orange cloud proxies records through Cloudflare. Great for websites, fatal for email helper records. Everything you add for email needs the grey "DNS only" setting; the connect gets this right for you.
Email Routing and a real mailbox cannot coexist
If Email Routing was ever enabled, it owns your MX records. Turn it off under Email first; forwarding is better handled with Faivelo aliases anyway.
Changes are fast, caches are not
Cloudflare publishes changes in seconds, but resolvers elsewhere can hold the old answer for up to half an hour. A record showing as pending right after you add it is usually just a cache emptying.
Check that it worked
Records usually go live within minutes, though caches can hold old answers for up to a day. Faivelo re-checks your domain automatically and emails you the moment everything verifies. Want an instant answer? Run a free email checkup on your domain and see exactly which records are live.
