Set up email on a DigitalOcean domain

If your domain's DNS lives in DigitalOcean's Networking panel, email is one click away: connect, approve, and every record is written for you. The manual path is below if you prefer clicking through it yourself.

The whole setup is one click

  1. 1.

    Add your domain in Faivelo

  2. 2.

    Click Connect DigitalOcean and approve

  3. 3.

Records appear and verify by themselves

This is the whole setup. The connection manages DNS only, touches nothing about your droplets or apps, and is revocable any time under Account, Security, Authorized applications.

The manual path, if you prefer it

  1. 1Prefer to do it by hand? Open cloud.digitalocean.com and go to Networking, then Domains.
  2. 2Click your domain to open its records.
  3. 3Pick the record type tab and add each entry your Faivelo dashboard lists.

Use @ for the root; DigitalOcean appends your domain to whatever you type in the hostname field.

DigitalOcean displays server names with a trailing dot. Typing it yourself is optional; the panel normalizes either way.

What gets set up, in plain words

Receiving

One record tells the internet to deliver your mail to Faivelo.

MX

Sending and trust

These prove your mail is really yours, so it lands in inboxes instead of spam folders.

TXT ×4CNAME ×3MX

Device auto-setup optional

Optional but nice: phones and mail apps find their settings by themselves instead of asking for servers and ports.

CNAME ×2SRV ×3

You type less than you think

Add your domain to Faivelo, free, and your dashboard generates this exact set for your domain. Every value has a one-click copy next to it, and each record checks itself off the moment it goes live, so you always know what is done and what is left.

And you give nothing up: this is the same full SPF, DKIM and DMARC setup the big per-seat providers configure. The flat price changes what you pay, not what lands in inboxes.

Things DigitalOcean does differently

The domain has to exist in Networking first

Pointing nameservers at DigitalOcean is not enough. The domain must also be added under Networking, Domains, or there is no zone to put records in.

Droplets and apps are unaffected

Email records sit alongside the A records serving your droplet or app platform site. Nothing about your infrastructure changes.

Check that it worked

Records usually go live within minutes, though caches can hold old answers for up to a day. Faivelo re-checks your domain automatically and emails you the moment everything verifies. Want an instant answer? Run a free email checkup on your domain and see exactly which records are live.
