Set Up Email in Thunderbird (IMAP Settings)
Thunderbird is one of the easiest clients to connect: Faivelo publishes Autoconfig records for your domain, so Thunderbird usually detects every setting from your email address alone. The manual steps below are the fallback.
| Server | Port | Security | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Incoming (IMAP) | mx.faivelo.com | 993 | SSL/TLS |
| Outgoing (SMTP) | mx.faivelo.com | 587 | STARTTLS |
Your username is always your full email address. The password is the mailbox password chosen when it was created.
Step by step
- Open Thunderbird
- Click Account Settings > Account Actions > Add Mail Account
- Enter your name, email you@yourdomain.com, and password
- Click Configure manually
- Set incoming server to mx.faivelo.com (port 993)
- Set outgoing server to mx.faivelo.com (port 587)
- Click Done
Good to know
- In most cases you only need steps 1–3: Thunderbird reads our Autoconfig DNS records and shows the correct servers immediately — just click Done.
- Pick "IMAP (remote folders)" if Thunderbird offers a choice — it keeps every device in sync.
- Thunderbird stores the password in its own password manager; if you reset the mailbox password later, update it under Settings → Privacy & Security → Saved Passwords.
Common questions
What are the manual server settings?
Incoming (IMAP): mx.faivelo.com, port 993, SSL/TLS, normal password. Outgoing (SMTP): mx.faivelo.com, port 587, STARTTLS, normal password. Username is the full email address.
Thunderbird found the settings by itself. Is that safe?
Yes — that is Autoconfig, a DNS record Faivelo publishes for your domain specifically so trusted clients can configure themselves.
Does Thunderbird work on Linux?
Yes, identically — the same settings work on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Can I add multiple Faivelo mailboxes?
Yes — repeat Add Mail Account for each address. Thunderbird shows them side by side with a unified inbox if you want one.
Setting up a different app?
Don't have your mailbox yet? Faivelo gives you unlimited mailboxes on your own domain for one flat price.
