GoDaddy sells Microsoft 365 email per mailbox, with a low first-year price and a higher list price that applies when the term renews. These are the questions people type when the second invoice arrives, answered from GoDaddy's own pages.
The prices on the page today
On godaddy.com/email/professional-business-email, checked 6 October 2026, Microsoft 365 Email Essentials shows a list price of $8.99 struck through, with $1.99 per mailbox a month "for 1st 1-year term" and 10 GB of storage. Email Plus with Security shows $9.99 struck through, $5.99 per mailbox a month for the first term, and 50 GB. Two larger bundles, Secure Online Essentials and Secure Business Professional, show $14.99 and $19.99 struck through, with $10.99 and $11.99 for the first term.
Under the prices the page says "Auto-renew pricing applies to each active mailbox". GoDaddy does not print a separate renewal figure, so the honest reading is: the struck-through number is the list price, the small number is the introductory one, and the renewal is at whatever the list price is when your term ends.
Why the second invoice is so much bigger
Two things stack. The intro price ends after one term, and the price is per mailbox. A business with you@, hello@ and billing@ bought three Email Essentials mailboxes at $1.99 each, so about $72 for the first year. At the $8.99 list price the same three mailboxes are $26.97 a month, or about $324 a year, before any tax.
By contrast, Faivelo charges $6 a month for the account with unlimited mailboxes on up to three domains, and there is no first-term price to end. The side-by-side with Microsoft's own plans is on Faivelo vs Microsoft 365.
FAQs
Why did my GoDaddy email price go up?
Your first term was billed at the introductory price per mailbox, and the renewal is billed at the list price GoDaddy shows struck through on its email page. If you added mailboxes during the year, each one renews at list too. The page says auto-renew pricing applies to each active mailbox, checked 6 October 2026.
What does GoDaddy email renew at?
GoDaddy does not print a separate renewal number. The list prices beside the intro offers, as of 6 October 2026, are $8.99 per mailbox a month for Email Essentials and $9.99 for Email Plus with Security. Your account's Renewals page shows the exact amount for your term before it charges.
What happened to GoDaddy Workspace Email?
GoDaddy retired its own Workspace Email product and moved customers to Microsoft 365, offering a credit toward the new plan. Its help article "Why am I receiving Microsoft 365 credit for my Workspace Email account" (godaddy.com/help, article 41316) explains the move. The credit covers the start; renewals are at Microsoft 365 prices.
Is Microsoft 365 from GoDaddy the same as from Microsoft?
It is the same Exchange mailbox, resold. Microsoft's own Business Basic lists at $7.00 per user a month paid yearly on microsoft.com, checked 6 October 2026, with a 50 GB mailbox. GoDaddy's entry plan is cheaper in the first term and has a 10 GB mailbox; which is cheaper afterwards depends on the plan you are on.
Can I keep my email address if I leave GoDaddy?
Yes, as long as you keep the domain. The address belongs to the domain, and the mailbox is just where mail is stored. Point the domain's MX records at the new host and your address keeps working; the domain itself can stay registered at GoDaddy.
How do I export my GoDaddy email before cancelling?
Microsoft 365 mailboxes speak IMAP, so any migration tool can copy every folder to the new host while the old mailbox keeps working. Faivelo's migration tool does this from the dashboard; it reads the old mailbox and never deletes from it. Do the copy before the plan lapses, because a cancelled mailbox is removed.
What if I only need one address?
Then the renewal is one list price a month, and a per-mailbox plan may still be the right shape for you. The math turns against per-mailbox pricing when the business needs hello@, support@ and a second person, which is most businesses within a year.
See the renewal coming, then decide
Open Renewals in your GoDaddy account and note the amount and date. If more than one mailbox is on it, start a Faivelo trial, copy the mailboxes across, and switch the MX before that date. Fourteen days, no card.
