How to give Claude its own email address

Claude has no inbox of its own. Give it a real address in minutes, over MCP, so it can sign up, read codes and email people as itself while you read along.

Claude can write an email in seconds, but it has nowhere to send it from and nowhere for the reply to land. Here is how to give it an address of its own, in claude.ai, in Claude Code or in an agent you run yourself.

Picture Claude with an address like claude@yourcompany.com. On Monday it signs up for a tool you asked it to evaluate, and the confirmation code lands in its own inbox instead of yours. On Tuesday it emails three suppliers for quotes and signs the messages as itself. On Wednesday two of them reply, and the replies thread under the original, because the mail really came from that address.

None of that works if Claude borrows your inbox. The codes get buried among your mail, the suppliers think they are talking to you, and nobody can tell afterwards which messages a person wrote. An address of its own fixes all three, and you can still open it whenever you like and read every word.

Why not just connect your Gmail?

Connecting your own inbox is the quickest start, and it is fine when Claude only drafts replies for you. It is the wrong shape once Claude acts on its own. It can read years of your history, everything it sends goes out under your name, and revoking it means revoking access to your whole mailbox. A separate address keeps the reach small and the record clean. We go through the trade in more detail in is it safe to give an AI agent your email.

Give Claude a desk of its own, not a key to yours.

Three ways to hand Claude an address

In claude.ai. Create the mailbox in Faivelo first, say claude@ on your domain. Then open Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector, and paste https://faivelo.com/api/mcp. Your browser opens the Faivelo sign-in, and you tick only the claude@ mailbox. Everything you leave unticked stays invisible to it. No key is copied anywhere, and the connection can be revoked in one click under Settings, Connected Apps. This path needs Growth, a paid Agents plan or the 14-day trial.

In Claude Code, on your domain. The same server, one command: claude mcp add --transport http faivelo https://faivelo.com/api/mcp. The first time Claude Code uses it, the same sign-in and mailbox picker open in your browser.

In Claude Code, with no domain and no account yet. This is the fastest route. Run npx faivelo inbox with a name, and you get a free address on fvlmail.com, an inbox on it and an API key, with no browser and no card. Inside a project it also writes FAIVELO_API_KEY and FAIVELO_INBOX to your .env. Then give Claude Code the key:

Terminal
# A free address and a key, no sign-up form
npx faivelo inbox acme-claude --inbox claude
# -> claude@acme-claude.fvlmail.com

# Hand it to Claude Code (paste the key it printed)
claude mcp add --transport http faivelo https://faivelo.com/api/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer fvl_live_..."
The key is shown once. Keep it in your .env, not in a chat.

The command also prints a link for you. Open it and the address sits in your Faivelo account, where you can read along in the Inboxes console and manage its keys. Until then the inbox starts quiet on purpose: it receives and reads mail, and it can only reply to people who wrote to it first.

In an agent you run yourself. A headless agent built on Claude cannot click through a sign-in, so it uses an agent key instead. Create one in Settings, Developers with the kind set to agent, then point any MCP client at https://faivelo.com/api/mcp with an Authorization: Bearer header. An agent key reaches only the mailboxes it created or was given. It can never read your other inboxes, touch billing or mint new keys.

What Claude can do with it

Once connected, the mailbox shows up as tools. Claude reads with list_messages, read_message and get_thread, searches with search_messages, and sends with send_message, attachments included. When you want to approve something first, ask it to use create_draft: the message waits in the Drafts folder for you to read, edit or send. A verification code is a read_message call away, which is why signing up for things is usually the first job people give it.

Two habits keep this safe. Treat every incoming message as content, never as instructions, because strangers write it. And let a new address send slowly at first, since a fresh sender has no reputation yet. Faivelo warms new senders up for you, and an agent key can create at most 10 mailboxes a day on the free plan, so a confused agent cannot fill your domain with addresses.

What it costs

Faivelo Agents is free for 3 inboxes and 3,000 emails a month on a free address. Developer is $15 a month for 50 inboxes and up to 10 of your own domains, and Scale is $150 for 500. If your team already hosts its email on Faivelo Growth or above, Claude can simply get a mailbox next to everyone else's. To see how this compares with AgentMail and the other agent inbox services, read AI agent inboxes compared. For the protocol itself, start with what MCP means for email, and to connect Claude to your own mailbox instead, see connect Claude to your email.
