People who find us usually found Purelymail, Migadu and MXroute first. All three are run by small teams who care about email, all three are flat-priced, and all three are cheaper than us on the sticker. Here is what we think of them, honestly.
What we admire about each of them
Purelymail is the purest expression of pay-for-what-you-use in email: about $10 a year for a person with normal habits, priced by storage and traffic, with no artificial limits on domains or addresses. Migadu's Micro plan is $19 a year for 5 GB and its pricing by storage rather than by user has quietly shamed the whole industry. MXroute is the veteran, run by people who have been fighting spam and reputation battles for over a decade, from $59 a year for 10 GB with unlimited domains and accounts.
If you are one technical person who enjoys running things, any of the three will serve you well for years, and you should probably use Purelymail. We are not going to talk you out of it.
What the sticker price leaves out
Purelymail and MXroute hand you a page of DNS records and wish you luck; Migadu will set them up for you if you ask, which is generous, but it is a one-off favour rather than a connection. MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC sit in your registrar, and when one is wrong you find out from a bounce or from a client asking why your mail went to spam. Faivelo connects to the registrar and places the records itself, then keeps checking them. For a business without a technical founder this is the whole difference, and it is the reason we cost $6 a month rather than $10 a year.
The second thing is the client. All three have webmail, MXroute now its own, and none of the three has a phone app of its own. They expect you to bring a mail client, which suits the people they are built for. Faivelo has its own webmail and iPhone and Android apps, a built-in migration tool that copies your old mailbox, and a support desk rather than a small team's inbox. The third thing is sending in volume: marketing mail and mailing lists are not allowed on Purelymail, Migadu caps outgoing mail per day on every plan, and MXroute has zero tolerance for marketing mail. On Faivelo they are part of the Growth plan.

When to pick them over us
Pick Purelymail if you are one person, comfortable with DNS, and want to pay the least possible for an honest mailbox. Pick Migadu if you want the same but for a small team, and you like a company that publishes its opinions about email. Pick MXroute if you have many domains, want a lifetime of stable service from people who know deliverability cold,. In each case you will pay less than $6 a month and you will not miss anything you were going to use.
When to pick us
Pick Faivelo if the person setting this up is not the person who will maintain it, or if there is no such person. If your team wants an app on their phones that just works. If you will send a newsletter or transactional mail from the same domain and want it on one bill. If you want a fourteen-day trial with no card. And if $6 a month, or $60 for the year, is a price you would rather pay than a Saturday spent in a DNS panel.
The difference is the reason we cost $6 a month rather than $10 a year.
