# Desktop app

> Keep a Faivelo Drive folder in sync on your Mac or PC, or download everything once.

Faivelo Drive for desktop puts your Drive in a folder on your computer. Get it at [faivelo.com/drive/desktop](https://faivelo.com/drive/desktop) for Mac (Apple silicon and Intel), Windows and Linux.

## Signing in

The app never asks for your password. It shows a short code and opens faivelo.com in your browser; sign in there (or create an account) and approve the code. The same flow the Faivelo CLI uses.

## Two ways to use it

- **Keep a folder in sync** (recommended). A *Faivelo Drive* folder appears on your computer (in the Finder sidebar on a Mac). Files you add there upload to your Drive; anything added, renamed or deleted on faivelo.com is mirrored down. Changes are picked up within about a minute.
- **Download everything once.** Copies your whole Drive to a folder of your choice and stops. Nothing runs in the background afterwards.

You choose on first run and can switch in **Preferences**.

## What happens to deletions and conflicts

- Deleting a file in the folder moves it to **Drive Trash** on faivelo.com (kept 30 days).
- Deleting a file on faivelo.com moves the local copy to your computer's **Trash**.
- If the same file changed on both sides since the last sync, both copies are kept: the remote one under its name, yours as *name (conflicted copy from your-computer date)*. Nothing is overwritten.
- Renaming or moving a file in the folder renames it on Drive; it is not re-uploaded.

## Big files and selective sync

Files larger than 100 MB are listed in the app but stay online-only until you open them (double-click, or choose Download). Change the limit in Preferences. You can also choose which top-level folders live on this computer; the rest stay on faivelo.com and remain browsable in the app.

## Updates

The app checks for new versions on launch and every few hours. On Windows and Linux it downloads them quietly and asks to restart. On a Mac, download new versions from the page above; the first time you open the app, right-click it and choose **Open**.

## Shared folders

This version syncs your own Drive. Folders other people shared with you are available on faivelo.com and will come to the app in a later version.
